Daily Messages from Shri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji

Home > An Appreciation

.....By Shalini Benipuri
"Krishna would have ensured an end of pacifism in India," he stressed.

A leading Urologist in the United States, Dr Bhatta has penned his interpretation of the Hindu scripture which has guided millions across the globe, not from a philosopher's or scholar's point of view but from the angle of a layman, seeker or Arjun.

Lord Krishna, whom he sees as a 'purnavatar' or complete incarnation of God because he led a complete and vibrant life on earth beginning from a boisterous childhood to an adulthood replete with 'ras leela' and fights, could have guided India to excellence just as he exhorted Arjuna to rise upto the occasion in Mahabharatha, he believes.

"Before receiving the teachings of Krishna, Arjuna was a normal warrior but once the Lord won him over, he attained the stature of a hero," Dr Bhatta said.

In his book brought out by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, he also characterises Draupadi as a role model for modern women.

"Born from a 'yajna' or fire, Draupadi was a fiery woman who would not take things lying down unlike Sita, born from the earth with the inherent qualities of forbearance and humility."

Dr Bhatta, who has established the Geeta Foundation in the United States to bring about a movement, an awareness to effect some social awakening and transformation, has been delivering lectures in Harvard and elsewhere on Gita and conducting radio prgrammes to get his message across the globe.

He believes one can attain centered or conical growth by following the tenets of Gita.

Interestingly, a chat show hosted by singer Kavita Paudwal by TVAsia is also on the anvil where Dr Bhattal will discuss his views and his book where he has depicted that Bhagwad Gita is not merely a spiritual work but also a science book illuminating the pathways of life.

Gita Today was released by Kanchi Shankaracharya on January seven last.
